AFL Fantasy Game Notes: Round 13

Another high scoring week for many coaches, the Brodie Grundy/Max Gawn Bye week could have been an issue for quite a few but those who traded in Reilly O’Brien earlier this season were provided with an outstanding reward.

Hitting the final week of the Bye period does present quite a few opportunities as we start to finalise our teams, keep a check on the Top 100 players via @ricontop. This will assist in trade decisions for those chasing overall rank, at some stage fading/avoiding highly owned players will be necessary in order to make ground.

Each week of the H&A season there will be a few key notes from each game that may provide some benefit to your AFL Fantasy decisions.

Adelaide v Richmond (AO)

Reilly O’Brien (146pts) had a decent Ruck match-up against Noah Balta & Mabior Chol, he recorded 19 Disposals, 5 Marks, 54 Hit Outs & 7 Tackles.

Dustin Martin scored a season high 140pts, Bachar Houli wasn’t used as much across half-back this week as he recorded 23 Disposals & 6 Marks for 88pts.

Essendon v Hawthorn (MRVL)

Dylan Clarke (67pts) started in the midfield & shadowed Jaeger O’Meara for much of the game, Clarke has become an important part of the core Essendon midfield group in the last 2 weeks.

With O’Meara (74pts) completely shut down Ricky Henderson was off the chain for the Hawks, he recorded 31 Disposals & 11 Marks for 140pts.

Gold Coast v St Kilda (Riverway Stadium, Townsville)

Brayden Fiorini didn’t go close to a ceiling type game in warm & slightly windy conditions in Townsville, he recorded 22 Disposals for 85pts.

Jack Billings started on a wing again then was roaming all over the ground, he was exceptional recording 33 Disposals, 8 Marks, 11 Tackles & 2 Goals for 170pts. He more than made up for his low Shanghai score.

Fremantle v Port Adelaide (OS)

Griffin Logue (100pts) started as a key defender & scored 43pts in the 1st Qtr which included a few intercept marks, he was used as a defensive outlet at times but did turn the ball over on some occasions.

Travis Boak was consistent for the majority of the day as he scored 101pts, Port Adelaide play their next 4 games & 7 of their final 10 games at the Adelaide Oval (Boak 2019 Adelaide Oval Ave: 119.4).

Carlton v Western Bulldogs (MRVL)

Jack Macrae (140pts) shadowed Patrick Cripps (67pts) early on resulting in a long night for the Carlton star midfielder, Sam Walsh (86pts) wasn’t able to find a lot of free space compared to previous weeks.

Josh Dunkley was on fire early & didn’t stop the entire night, he recorded 41 Disposals, 5 Marks, 10 Tackles & 1 Goal for 158pts.

Nth Melbourne v GWS Giants (BA)

Jack Ziebell started well as a midfielder scoring 62pts in the first half, by the start of the last qtr he was at full forward finishing the game on 82pts.

The Giants midfield made a mess of the Kangaroos, Taranto recorded 30 Disposals (156pts), Kelly recorded 35 Disposals (148pts), Hopper recorded 29 Disposals (118pts) & Coniglio 27 Disposals (116pts).
