Richmond half-back Bachar Houli is currently in the rehab group at pre-season training recovering from a calf strain, the injury is considered minor.

Houli is expected to join full training in early January.

“Bachar in the off-season had a minor calf strain which we’ve had to manage for the last couple of weeks. Bachar’s now back running in the rehab group and we’re just taking a cautious approach towards Christmas and hoping to get him back in with the main group after Christmas.” Richmond’s Physical Performance Manager Peter Burge.

Houli averaged a career season high 27.8 Disposals from 22 games for the Tigers in 2019, he also averaged 6.5 Marks & 2.7 Tackles.

AFL FANTASY TAKE

Houli missed 3 games early in the 2019 season with a hamstring injury, he has played in 75.5% of possible games since the start of the 2018 H&A season.

Houli averaged a career season high 102.3pts from 22 games in 2019, he scored 100pts or more in 63.6% of games scoring a season high 144pts in Round 10 against Essendon.

The concern for selecting Houli is his recent injury history & his inability to complete a full season, calf injuries can linger & be a concern for ageing AFL players. Houli turns 32 in May next season.

Houli will be a contentious selection at Round 1 in classic, he’s still likely an early selection in draft but adequate bench cover is a must.
