There is nothing like Round 2 of an AFL season to even the playing field between punters & bookies, after a seemingly easy Round 1 the tables were certainly turned over the Easter weekend.
ROUND 2 REVIEW
Only 3 of 9 favourites saluted in Round 2 with Melbourne ($1.38) & GWS ($1.39) surviving tight games, Adelaide ($1.77) exacted a little bit of revenge for their 2017 Grand Final loss to Richmond. Only 2 favourites (Adelaide -4.5 & Melbourne -19.5) cleared their betting lines.
West Coast $23.00 (121pts) were the highest scoring team, St Kilda $34.00 (43pts) were the lowest scoring team for Round 2. Well done if you had any piece of that high/low double.
Backing all of the Underdogs in Round 2 would have resulted in a profit of +6.41 Units.
BAD BEAT
Spare a thought for the punters that had taken Brisbane at +19.5 against Melbourne, after trailing by 43pts at HT the Lions surged back to level the scores 10 minutes into the last Qtr.
Unfortunately Jeff Garlett saved the day for the Demons kicking back to back Goals, Bayley Fritsch kicked a crucial point to make the margin 20pts with a few minutes remaining but then added the final dagger with a closing Goal with just seconds remaining on the clock.
