AFLRATINGS NEWS: Senior coach Ken Hinkley remains open to the ruck situation which involves Jordon Sweet heading into the 2024 AFL Season (via SEN).
Fantasy Impact
While Port Adelaide senior coach Ken Hinkley has left competition open for the no.1 ruck spot this season Jordon Sweet would be very close to being favourite. Sweet has the capability of carrying the ruck load for Port Adelaide but the possibility of a dual ruck combination may linger throughout the season. New recruit Ivan Soldo is more than capable playing at AFL level while Dante Visentini is still likely a development play. The other area of concern is the health of the forward line for Port Adelaide, if Charlie Dixon, Todd Marshall or Jeremy Finlayson (Mitch Georgiades later in the year) are not available or haven’t been selected this increases the chances of another ruck being played in the same team. A clear ruck situation may not be available for an entire season for Sweet but if it was his fantasy prospects would be quite appealing.
