AFLRATINGS NEWS: Finn Maginness has signed a two-year contract extension per Hawthorn. He is now contracted until the end of 2025.

AFLRATINGS NEWS: Melbourne senior coach Simon Goodwin says they have planned for Finn Maginness to go to someone this week. Goodwin referenced the role Maginness played on Ed Langdon in 2022 but he was unsure who the target would be this week.

Fantasy Impact: Finn Maginness has been able to impact several players across the season in a shutdown role. Hawthorn senior coach Sam Mitchell has stated on a number of occasions that Maginness would play more on the outside as to not disrupt their own midfield structure. Maginness restricted Ed Langdon to just 9 disposals last season (Round 7).

AFLRATINGS NEWS: Finn Maginness says he wants to develop other areas of his game and not consistently record low disposals every week. Maginness added his next step of development is to limit his opponents while having an offensive impact.

Fantasy Impact: Finn Maginness wasn’t able to acknowledge his role for Round 22 but Hawthorn do play the Western Bulldogs on Sunday at UTAS Stadium in Launceston. Maginness would be some chance to be matched up on Marcus Bontempelli having restricted Nick Daicos to a small disposal count last week.

AFLRATINGS NEWS: Senior coach Sam Mitchell says they prefer to play Finn Maginness more on the outside. Mitchell added that Maginness playing on the inside limits other midfielders.

AFLRATINGS NEWS: Senior coach Sam Mitchell says a decision is yet to be made on whether Finn Maginness will tag an opposition player this week. Mitchell added that his direct Round 6 opponent from last season Jordan Dawson is now playing a different role.

Fantasy Impact: Jordan Dawson is now playing through the midfield which may alter plans for Sam Mitchell this week if Maginness plays. Chayce Jones has been strong in recent games for Adelaide providing plenty of speed off half-back. Mitch Hinge or Brodie Smith are also options if Sam Mitchell intends to play Maginness in a forward tag role.
