Champion Data officially announced today that Kicks (from a Behind/Point) will be a recorded Disposal as long as the player is completely clear of the goal square, this is an update based on the new Kick-in rule which will be introduced this year by the AFL where a player does not have to kick to self before exiting the goal square.

All handballs will be a recorded Disposal regardless of where the player disposes of the ball.

At this stage it is quite clear that players taking kick-ins will likely benefit from the new rule & see an increase in scoring, it also benefits season long AFL Fantasy & SuperCoach with the potential for variable team structures at Round 1.

Adjusting to the new rule and being ahead of the game will be a major advantage for fantasy coaches in 2019, there are additional rule changes that could also impact this season.

Jack Viney appears to be on track to finish the remainder of pre-season at full capacity, he played only 10 games last season after battling another foot injury.

“I’m definitely further advanced this pre-season than what I was in previous (years).. I’m now coming up to a month of having a good solid training block which is exactly what my body needs” Jack Viney.

Viney averaged 87.2pts in AFL Fantasy & 92.0pts in SuperCoach last season.

With the departure of Dylan Shiel to Essendon during the recent trade period Tim Taranto could see an increase in midfield usage in 2019, Taranto averaged 20.8 Disposals from 23 games last season.

“If he can produce his best footy more consistently this year I think he’ll be one of the best midfielders in the competition.. There’s a huge upside to him.” Callan Ward on Tim Taranto.

Taranto averaged 89.5pts in AFL Fantasy & 88.7pts in SuperCoach last season.

Tom Bellchambers is set for a return to full training next week following off-season shoulder surgery, Joe Daniher is also yet to join in full training.

Zac Clarke might be a worthwhile bench option given the injury history to Bellchambers.

Tom Doedee (Quad tightness) did not complete training as a precaution today, he is expected to have scans on Friday.
