It was meant to be a 3 day weekend for rest & recreation for players but it turned out to be a nightmare for quite a few, the scramble is on for fantasy coaches as key targets were hit by injuries over the weekend.
Connor Blakely suffered a significant hamstring injury late last week, he will see a surgeon this week and is expected to miss 12-14 weeks.
“It’s obviously disappointing for both Connor and the football club, but we are confident he will be able to return in the first half of the season and have an impact.” Fremantle GM of Football, Peter Bell.

Matthew Kreuzer underwent minor knee surgery last week, Carlton still expect him to be ready for Round 1.
“Matthew Kreuzer had minor surgery on his knee this week, we don’t expect it to be a major interruption.. we’re really confident he’s going to get back (for game play) late in the pre-season & be ready for Round 1” Director of High Performance Andrew Russell.

Kreuzer averaged 79.3pts in AFL Fantasy & 79.8pts in SuperCoach in 2018.
Sam Docherty (ACL) hasn’t been ruled out for the season just yet, he will be given every opportunity to play late in 2019.
“Whether he’s ready to play this year or not we don’t know.. we’ll give him every chance to play football in 2019” Director of High Performance Andrew Russell on Sam Docherty.
Docherty did not play in 2018 due to a previous ACL injury.
AFL Fantasy: 2019 Top 5 Value Plays
Will Setterfield is on track for Round 1, he is expected to join in full training over the next 2 weeks.
“Over the next week or two he’ll be into the full training group doing full game play situations.. he’s looking really good for the start of the season” Director of High Performance Andrew Russell on Will Setterfield.
Setterfield averaged 25.0 Disposals, 4.7 Marks & 7.6 Tackles in the NEAFL in 2017, he did not play in 2018 due to an ACL injury.
AFL Fantasy: 2019 Top 5 Potential Busts

Brandon Ellis looks set for a move into the midfield this season, he played 18 games last season & was not preferred at times by Richmond Coach Damien Hardwick.
“I want to use my running ability through the midfield, my spread from stoppage & my power running” Brandon Ellis on a role change in 2019.
Ellis averaged 74.1pts in AFL Fantasy & 71.4pts in SuperCoach in 2018.
Ollie Wines will have scans this week after injuring his shoulder in a water skiing accident, the injury could be of a serious nature and impact the opening games of his season.
