Ollie Wines is set to have scans this week after suffering a shoulder injury, according to reports the Power midfielder was injured while water skiing on Saturday.

Port Adelaide released a statement late on Sunday night:

Port Adelaide midfielder Ollie Wines suffered a shoulder injury while water skiing near Mannum on Saturday afternoon.

Wines will have his shoulder scanned later this week to determine the extent of injury.

The club will make no further comment until it has received the results of the scans.

Kane Cornes hit Twitter on Sunday evening that alerted the football community of the injury, he described the injury as ‘significant’.

Wines was the No.1 midfielder at Port Adelaide averaging 26.1 Disposals in 2018, he has played in 100.0% of games since the start of the 2016 H&A season.

The injury news for Wines (2018 AFL Fantasy Ave: 93.5pts) isn’t great and likely puts his Round 1 season debut in doubt, it would leave a significant gap in the Power midfield.

Tom Rockliff is likely to benefit most from the Wines injury, Rocky averaged 20.6 Disposals last season (82.7pts).

Sam Powell-Pepper (2018 AFL Fantasy Ave: 75.0pts) is also likely to receive a bump in average, there is also the potential for a rookie to jump into the Power team early in the season.
