The points were flowing in another high scoring week of AFL Fantasy, Captain selections turned out to be critical in Round 18 with Brodie Grundy putting up a huge 181pts.

Bench cover was also critical in defence this week with the Shannon Hurn late withdrawal, as AFL Finals edge closer some teams will opt to rest key players with or without prior notice.

AFL Fantasy Game Notes: Round 18

Each week of the H&A season there will be a few key notes from each game that may provide some benefit to your AFL Fantasy decisions.

Adelaide v Essendon (AO)

Reilly O’Brien didn’t disappoint in a favourable match-up on Friday night, he recorded 27 Disposals & 39 Hit Outs for a game high 134pts.

Zach Merrett finished strongly scoring 83pts in the second half, he recorded 22 Disposals in the final 2 Qtrs.

Richmond v Port Adelaide (MCG)

Dion Prestia has been in decent fantasy form in recent weeks, he recorded 30 Disposals for 110pts in his midfield role against the Power.

It was a slow type of day for Tom Rockliff (90pts) but a strong finish in the second half saved his day, Matthew Broadbent (100pts) scored well in his return.

Carlton v Gold Coast (MRVL)

Patrick Cripps (55pts) was shadowed mostly by David Swallow, Cripps was assessed a couple of times during the game for an ankle injury. One to monitor this week.

Touk Miller recorded 27 Disposals, 9 Marks & 11 Tackles for a game high 143pts, Darcy MacPherson again showed plenty from a fantasy perspective finishing with 122pts.

GWS Giants v Collingwood (GS)

The Giants made a mess of the Magpies in the first Qtr, Tim Taranto (145pts) recorded a game high 14 Tackles.

Brodie Grundy (181pts) was exceptional recording 31 Disposals, 48 Hit Outs & 9 Tackles, Taylor Adams was solid in his return finishing with 111pts.

Brisbane v Nth Melbourne (G)

Only 4 Brisbane players scored more than 80pts in Round 18, Jarryd Lyons scored a team high 107pts.

Shaun Higgins (116pts) was excellent in his return, he recorded a team high 27 Disposals in Round 18.

Fremantle v Sydney (OS)

Andrew Brayshaw started on Luke Parker in the midfield at the opening bounce, he recorded 20 Disposals & 8 Tackles for 101pts.

Jake Lloyd (132pts) found plenty of space at Optus Stadium, he recorded a game high 42 Disposals in his defensive role.

Geelong v Hawthorn (MCG)

After scoring 65pts in the first half Tim Kelly managed just 16pts in the second half, the scoring is starting to dry up for Kelly in recent weeks.

Daniel Howe (108pts) started across half-back as a replacement for Grant Birchall, Liam Shiels (133) recorded a game high 29 Disposals starting on Patrick Dangerfield in the midfield.

Melbourne v West Coast (TP Alice Springs)

Bailey Fritsch (134pts) again played mostly as a leading forward, he was dominant recording 22 Disposals, 14 Marks & 4 Goals.

Dom Sheed (125pts) found plenty of space as he recorded a team high 34 Disposals, Elliot Yeo (91pts) was mostly shadowed by Angus Brayshaw.

St Kilda v Western Bulldogs (MRVL)

Hunter Clark (105pts) has made decent strides from a fantasy perspective in recent weeks, he finished with 26 Disposals & 2 Goals. Clark scored 81pts in the first half.

Josh Dunkley (123pts) recorded a team high 38 Disposals in a pure midfield role, Caleb Daniel was quiet in his return recording 17 Disposals for 65pts.
