Sydney key forward Tom McCartin has been ruled out of Round 4, he sustained a head knock in the last Qtr on Saturday.

The Swans made the call on McCartin with just a 5 day break between Rounds 3 & 4, under the AFL’s new concussion protocol introduced this year a player needs to return to a baseline level of symptoms five days out from a game.

McCartin will be monitored by the Swans in the lead up to Round 5.

“He was suffering from concussion and he didn’t return to the field so we will monitor him closely over the next few days”

“.. with a short turn around leading into the Bulldogs on Thursday night, he won’t be cleared to play this week.”

McCartin has averaged 6.3 Disposals, 2.7 Marks & 0.7 Goals from his opening 3 games in 2020.

AFL FANTASY TAKE

The Swans will be without another key tall forward this week against the Bulldogs, Hayden McLean provided a target up forward with McCartin in Round 3.

Sam Naismith could make his return in Round 4.

McCartin is not considered an option for season long fantasy.
