Nick Hind

A move back to a familiar role for Nick Hind is on the cards in 2021, his recent trade to Essendon is likely to result in a move to a half-back role.

With Essendon losing Adam Saad to Carlton during the 2020 trade period a spot across half-back is available, recent comments by Bombers GM of List and Recruiting Adrian Dodoro have confirmed the change in role for Hind in 2021.

“We like him across half back as a running defender and losing Saady, we wanted to get some speed into the team.” Adrian Dodoro on Nick Hind during the 2020 trade period.

Hind spent 2 years at the Saints playing mostly in a small forward role, he also confirmed discussions with Essendon senior coach Ben Rutten on his move back to a half-back role.

AFL FANTASY TAKE

Hind averaged 42.9pts from 10 games in 2020 for St Kilda, he averaged 9.8 Disposals, 1.7 Marks & 2.8 Tackles in 2020.

The recent fantasy scores for Hind at the Saints need to be ignored with a change in role upcoming at Essendon, if he can secure a best 22 spot in the team his role across half-back increases his fantasy value in 2021.

Hind spent most of his games at the Saints playing as a small forward, he played most of his time in the VFL for Essendon back in 2018 playing across half-back.

Hind averaged 21.6 Disposals, 3.7 Marks & 2.5 Tackles from 20 games for Essendon in the VFL in 2018.

Keep Hind on your pre-season watch-list for AFL Fantasy classic, he’s a late round sleeper in 10 team standard draft leagues.
