David Mackay

David Mackay is set to undergo knee surgery this week, he had his left knee drained in early November which failed to reduce swelling.

Mackay will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee bursa, he is expected to be available at the beginning of January when pre-season fully returns for Adelaide.

“We felt a more minimalist procedure could be performed with an arthroscopy to release the top of the bursa and allow it to drain.”

“Based on the nature of the procedure, he should be able to get on the bike quite quickly and start running after two weeks.” Crows Chief Medical Officer Marc Cesana.

Mackay averaged 15.5 Disposals, 2.5 Marks & 1.6 Tackles from 10 games in 2020.

AFL FANTASY TAKE

Mackay averaged 51.8pts from 10 games for the Crows in 2020, he scored a season high 70pts against Geelong in Round 13.

In 2016 Mackay recorded a season high average of 75.3pts*, he has been consistent for the majority of his career but has not reached a high level of fantasy scoring output to make him a viable option.

Mackay is not considered an option for AFL Fantasy classic, he’s a bench option in deep draft leagues only.
