Tom Powell will look to establish himself in a midfield role next season, he was selected at pick 13 by Nth Melbourne in the 2020 AFL Draft.
Powell averaged 33.5 Disposals in the 2020 SANFL U18’s, he also averaged 14.6 Contested Possessions & 8.0 Clearances.Â
The Kangaroos targeted contested ball winning midfielders early in the 2020 AFL Draft, the numbers for Powell over his junior career were elite.Â
Powell could be set for an early debut in 2021, AFL.com.au draft expert @CalTwomey recently said that he thought Powell had done “enough to suggest he will be ready to go” at Round 1 via @AFLExchange.Â

Powell arrived at Nth Melbourne shortly after the draft, he’s already working on his game and has some thoughts where he can best fit at stoppages.Â
“My clean hands and my decision making around stoppage are some things that I guess help set me apart from other players.”
“There are some things I work on at training & during games, I think that it will be able to help elevate my game and help the football club to be able to get first use of the ball and flick it out to some outside runners and good ball users.” Tom Powell via Nth Melbourne Media.Â

AFL FANTASY TAKE
Powell should immediately be placed on your fantasy watch-list, he’s a prolific ball winning player that will be well suited in contested situations.Â
The Kangaroos also drafted Will Phillips who is expected to see significant midfield minutes in 2021, Powell should also be used at a decent level.
Nth Melbourne are in a rebuild phase, that’s a prime opportunity for fantasy players to target young draftees that will be given plenty of opportunities, Powell certainly fits that criteria for 2021.

Powell is a genuine target to start at Round 1 if a debut is confirmed, he’s a late round sleeper in 10 team standard draft leagues.
Powell should be a priority in dynasty/keeper leagues.Â
