Brad Crouch has given an indication on what his role will be along with the midfield set-up at the Saints in 2021, the former Adelaide midfielder will be looking to make an impact through the midfield after crossing over via free agency in the off-season.Â
Versatility will be key for many midfielders in 2021, Crouch is no different with the Saints needing flexibility with a deep midfield.Â
Crouch provided an update on Tuesday morning via SEN.

“In speaking to Ratts (Saints Snr coach Brett Ratten).. this year there’s a lot of depth in the midfield now & a lot of numbers, so we’re going to try & get (players) through as many (into the midfield) as we can”Â
As a result of the Saints midfield depth secondary positions will be a requirement, Crouch provided further information what extra roles he may be playing in 2021.Â
“I think I’ll play forward at different times, maybe outside on a wing, even spoken little bits about maybe playing half-back at times.”

AFL FANTASY TAKE
Crouch averaged 74.2pts from 12 games in 2020, he scored a season high 94pts in Round 5 against Fremantle.Â
The Saints ran a narrow centre bounce rotation at times last season, Crouch joining the Saints provides extra depth in the midfield.
The versatility in roles may result in limited centre bounce usage or even additional time spent on the ground saving on rotations with the reduced cap in 2021 to 75 down from 90 last year.
Crouch is still likely to rank high at the Saints for centre bounces in 2021.Â

Crouch will likely have low ownership at Round 1 in AFL Fantasy classic, he’ll provide extra support to Jack Steele & may even work in tandem which would benefit from a fantasy perspective.Â
Crouch may also be worth taking a flyer on if left undrafted in the early rounds in 10 team standard draft leagues.Â
