Nakia Cockatoo has been training in a new role at Brisbane, after moving from Geelong in the off-season he has been training across half-back at the Lions in match simulation.
Cockatoo was unable to train fully prior to Christmas, he has since been building up his program on a slightly modified program according Lions senior coach Chris Fagan on Friday morning via SEN.
“Hopefully if we can keep him on the track he’ll have a good influence.” Chris Fagan.

With limited sessions in the pre-season Cockatoo has been working in a half-back role.
“At the moment we’ve had a few little practice games for half an hour or so, he’s played at half-back.” Fagan added.

AFL FANTASY TAKE
Nakia Cockatoo has averaged 49.2pts from 34 career games, he has scored 80pts or more in only 2 of those games (20 Min Qtrs).
A fully fit Cockatoo across half-back has plenty of fantasy potential, however he hasn’t played a game since Round 3 back in 2018 in what has been an injury plagued AFL career.

If Cockatoo is named at Round 1 & confirmed to play across half-back then he’s likely a smash selection at his salary in AFL Fantasy classic, obviously his injury history is a major concern.Â
Cockatoo is likely a pass or a very late selection in 10 team standard draft leagues, the half-back role should be decent but it might be a spot to let others take the risk.Â
