Lance Franklin had a minor set back at training last week, he was unable to complete a session due to a calf issue.
No doubt Sydney will take every precaution with their key forward, Swans senior coach John Longmire provided an update on SEN Monday morning.
“Last week his calf tightened up a little bit on Friday about half-way through the session.. he’ll get going again next week” John Longmire.

Longmire also provided an update on areas of concern for Franklin through his groin & hamstring area, no doubt completing the remainder of pre-season will be key for his availability in Round 1.
“It’s mainly though his groin area & hamstrings & just making sure his adductors & all the core elements through his body are nice & strong, that’s the biggest concern.”
“He’s done a power of work” Longmire added.

AFL FANTASY TAKE
Franklin did not play last year due to injury, he averaged 70.5pts from 10 games in 2019 scoring a season high 107pts in Round 22.
The injury history for Franklin in recent times has not been great, this obviously has to be taken into consideration if Franklin is on your radar.
Key forwards in AFL Fantasy can provide a volatile scoring output, poor individual match-ups are always a concern while form can also deliver low scoring games.
Franklin is one player that can provide enough ceiling type games to overcome the low scoring games, the recent injury history & continuity in games is the major concern this season at the age of 34.

Franklin is monster value to start the season at Round 1 in AFL Fantasy classic, if he’s still available in the middle to late part of 10 team standard draft leagues he’s worth taking a flyer on.
Many will take a stand against Franklin, tracking ownership over the pre-season may provide clarity for any type of decision for or against starting him.
100% Fitness at Round 1 is likely a non-negotiable for those interested.
