Lachie Whitfield will be sidelined for an extended period, he is recovering from a bruised liver.
Whitfield alerted medical staff to soreness in the region after receiving a knock during training on Friday via Giants media.

It is not known when Whitfield will return to training, the Giants will likely be cautious until he is fully recovered.
“It’s on the lower end of the scale and he’s feeling ok at the moment,”
He hasn’t required hospitalisation but it’s hard to put a timeframe on his recovery at this stage.
“He’ll continue to be monitored closely as the bruising subsides and will be a week-by-week proposition.” Giants Chief Medical Officer Bassam Moses.

AFL FANTASY TAKE
Whitfield averaged 86.4pts from 17 games in 2020, he scored a season high 122pts in Round 16 against Adelaide.
Obviously the news isn’t great for Whitfield & the Giants, hopefully a quick recovery period follows.
From a fantasy perspective his condition needs to be fully monitored for return to play time frame & potentially game time %.

Whitfield remains a high scoring high ceiling type player, ownership will be strong at Round 1 in AFL Fantasy classic if he is good to go.
Whitfield likely slides a couple of spots in 10 team standard draft leagues.
