There is further clarification on the role for Shaun Higgins this season, it is likely he’ll be used in a variety of roles at his new club Geelong.
Assistant coach Matthew Scarlett provided an update on what we can expect to see from Higgins this season on SEN today.Â
“He’ll play half-forward/wing, play a bit of inside midfield as well” Mathew Scarlett.

“He’s going to be a great addition for us, just his ball use & footy smarts, I know Hawk (Tom Hawkins) & the boys down there (in the forward line) get excited when the footy is in his hands.” Scarlett added.
Higgins played all 17 games last season, the former Kangaroo & Bulldog player joined the Cats in the off-season.Â

AFL FANTASY TAKE
Higgins averaged 76.2pts from 17 games last season, he scored a season high 121pts against Richmond in Round 7.Â
Geelong are a high disposal team, expect Higgins to be fantasy relevant again in 2021.
There is potential upside in his scoring output at the Cats, last season under senior coach Chris Scott the ball movement was precise with plenty of control which elevated scores from several players.Â

Higgins will be mostly overlooked in AFL Fantasy classic, he’s still be an option particularly at a high scoring fantasy team at Geelong. If his forward usage is strong enough there is the potential for a DPP addition.Â
Higgins will also be relevant in 10 team standard draft leagues, it might be worth taking a flyer on him & be ahead of average draft position.
