Round 2 of the 2021 H&A season begins on Thursday night, @aflratingsPete ranks the Top 5 Trade Targets Under $300K in AFL Fantasy classic.Â
The following list is a balanced opinion of which players to target, the comments are important to acknowledge; ability, playing role, job security, cash generation & potential scoring output have an influence on the rank.Â
1.Matt Flynn (GWS Giants) RUCK $219K BE -24
Flynn was outstanding in his AFL debut in Round 1 handling the wet conditions with ease, he was assessed for an ankle concern which does need to be monitored for this week. With his performance in the season opener along with the long term injury to Braydon Preuss job security shouldn’t be an issue in the short term. If you don’t already own Flynn now is the time to target him for Round 2.Â
Round 1 Score: 99
2. Errol Gulden (Sydney) MID $259K BE -22
Gulden was better than advertised in his AFL debut in Round 1, he recorded 19 Disposals, 10 Marks & kicked 3 Goals against Brisbane at the Gabba. His job security is not even a question at this stage & based on his scoring output he can be a start until further notice. Gulden will likely generate cash faster than most, if you didn’t roster him in Round 1 this week he’s a must trade-in.Â
Round 1 Score: 108

3. James Jordon (Melbourne) MID $207K BE -12
Jordon was excellent in his AFL debut against Fremantle in Round 1, Demons coach Simon Goodwin referenced this week saying they were forced to pick him based on his strong pre-season. Jordon was used at centre bounces in Round 1, with James Harmes sidelined with a wrist injury that likely solidifies Jordon in the team for quite a while. Â
Round 1 Score: 80
4. Chad Warner (Sydney) FWD $216K BE 9
Warner went under the radar for most in Round 1, he recorded 19 Disposals & 3 Tackles on his way to a respectable 57pts. He was used through the midfield & attended centre bounces, his contested game style & strong build will provide opportunities to win his own ball. If your’e looking for a solid option for your forward line Warner should be a consideration.Â
Round 1 Score: 57

5. Tom Powell (Nth Melbourne) MID $269K BE 13
Powell started forward in Round 1 & hit the scoreboard early, as the Kangaroos lost touch with Port Adelaide he was moved into the midfield finishing the game with 19 Disposals, 3 Marks & 1 Goal. Powell can find space & work well in congested situations, his ability to find the ball should keep the healthy scores rolling.Â
Round 1 Score: 68
