Good luck for the year.

TOP 10 AFL FANTASY RUCKS

1.Brodie Grundy

Grundy looks set to increase his scoring output in 2022 after completing a very solid pre-season, he has shown an ability to hit consistent ceiling games once he started to mature in the ruck position and this year should be no different.

Projected Average: 115-120

2. Max Gawn

Despite the presence of Luke Jackson the scoring output is unlikely to change for Gawn, his ability to move into a position that is required throughout each game keeps his proximity to the ball very high which equates to a high scoring rate.

Projected Average: 110-115

3. Sean Darcy

Last year was a small indication of what we can look forward to at the ruck position for Darcy, it will be no surprise if he is ranked quite high at the ruck position this season if he completes a full healthy 22 games.

Projected Average: 105-110

4. Reilly O’Brien

The motivation for O’Brien to stay in the No.1 ruck position is high with Kieran Strachan on the radar at Adelaide, O’Brien has completed a very strong pre-season and should be ranked quite high this year.

Projected Average: 100-105

2022 AFL Fantasy: Top 10 Defenders

5. Rowan Marshall

Marshall would be moved up this list quite easily if a solo ruck situation was available at the Saints but unfortunately that is not the case, however his scoring rate should be strong enough to make an impact this season.

Projected Average: 95-100

AFL INJURY NEWS

6. Jarrod Witts

Returning from an ACL injury Witts has completed a very professional pre-season, he has an ability to record a high number of hit outs across the season which should keep the fantasy scores ticking over.

Projected Average: 85-90

7. Nic Naitanui

West Coast will rely heavily on Naitanui this year with his ability to impact stoppages at an elite level, he’s a step well below premium ruck options but he’s solid enough for a decent average across the season.

Projected Average: 85-90

8. Tim English

English is starting to mature as a ruck option for the Bulldogs which should provide a very solid return from a fantasy perspective, it’s not quite a solo ruck situation yet which could provide an optimal return but it’s getting close.

Projected Average: 85-90

9. Braydon Preuss

There is likely a picture of Preuss next to the definition of enigma in any dictionary, but the one thing we do know he can score at a very strong rate. The Giants ruck setup could be fluid this year which could present a limit on what he is truly capable of from a fantasy perspective.

Projected Average: 85-90

10. Toby Nankervis

Nank might be the most underrated ruck in the competition but don’t believe it for one minute, he completes strong at stoppages and has an ability to take strong contested marks. Unlikely that he’s out of the top 10 at the end of the H&A season.

Projected Average: 80-85
