Geelong update: Player Rotations

Geelong senior coach Chris Scott intends to rotate players out of the team even if they are in full health this season.

Shaun Higgins was rotated out of the team last week, other players including Joel Selwood will also be rotated out when healthy in order to main a healthy squad over the length of the season.

Scott has recently reiterated the intention to use most of the Geelong squad this year to maintain a decent level of health rather than having several players requiring to be managed at the same time.

He provided further insight at his weekly presser on Wednesday.

“We feel like we’ve got a deep squad that we’re going to use,”

“And that means that some of our players including Joel (Selwood) will be rotated out when they’re in rude health.”

“That was the situation with Shaun last week and it will be the situation with others in the future.” he said.

Scott also added that all three roles including defender, run with midfielder and pure midfielder will be available for Mark O’Connor this season.

“He’s one of the best runners in the completion and we want to use him up the ground, all three of those roles are on the table for us.” Scott said.
