St Kilda Update: Rowan Marshall

AFL News: Rowan Marshall is expected to see an adjustment in role next season.

With the retirement of Paddy Ryder the door is open for Marshall to takeover the clear No.1 ruck position at the Saints in 2023.

St Kilda List Manager James Gallagher confirmed this week that Marshall will move into the top ruck role after a period of time sharing the position with Ryder.

“He’s played some outstanding footy for us for 3 or 4 years,”

“He’s being doing that in tandem with Paddy Ryder for the last 3 years but he’s ready to take on the No.1 ruck role and we’re really keen to give him that opportunity.”

“So he’ll certainly be our ruckman.”

Marshall averaged 16.0 disposals, 4.6 marks, 3.1 tackles and 23.0 hit outs from 21 games in 2022.

Fantasy Impact: Marshall averaged 91.3pts from 21 games in 2022, he scored a season high 163pts in Round 20 against Hawthorn.

He averaged 78.5pts with Ryder last year and scored 47pts in Round 23 with Tom Campbell, he averaged 111.8pts as solo ruck.

Marshall is a strong consideration for season long fantasy to start the season, it is worth monitoring the possibility of a secondary ruck at the Saints but it appears Marshall will be given the No.1 role.

He likely firms into a very early pick in single season draft leagues.
