Ashcroft is a dynamic midfielder that can accumulate disposals at a very high rate.

Brisbane National Recruiting Manager Stephen Conole provided a brief update after Ashcroft was selected.

“Will is not only a very talented, super competitive player, but a young man who plays with a really strong team ethos and will be a fantastic addition to our squad in 2023 and beyond.”

“Prolific across all levels he has competed in this year, I am sure everyone in and around the Club is looking forward to seeing Will pull on the Lions jumper next season.” Conole said.

Ashcroft also averaged 33.5 disposals, 3.0 marks, 5.0 tackles and kicked 2 goals from 4 games in the 2022 U18 National Championships.

Fantasy Impact: Will Ashcroft will add quality depth to the Brisbane midfield and has the potential to develop into a top AFL midfielder.

He has outstanding touch and an ability to find plenty of ball inside and outside the contest, his breakaway speed adds another layer to his exceptional talent.

The short term fantasy prospects appear to be very solid, provided he completes a strong first pre-season he should see multiple opportunities at AFL level in 2023.

His long term prospects appear to be even better with what should be a secure position in the Brisbane midfield.

Season long fantasy: Ashcroft will likely have healthy ownership at Round 1 if he is named, his ability to find plenty of ball should provide a decent scoring rate at a minimum throughout the year.

Single season draft leagues: He’s likely a mid round option in single season draft leagues.

DFS: He’ll come with decent ownership early in his career based on his low entry level salary.
