Wardlaw is a highly competitive midfielder that can win his own ball in contested situations.Â
Nth Melbourne List and Recruiting Manager Brady Rawlings provided a brief update after Wardlaw was selected.Â
“George is an inside-mid who really hunts the ball, he’s a really good stoppage player, he’s good at ground level and he’s a ferocious tackler.”
“He’s a real competitor George but he’s got some real attributes to get him out of the stoppage as well.” Rawlings said.Â
Wardlaw did not play in the 2022 U18 National Championships.Â

Fantasy Impact: George Wardlaw will add an aggressive dynamic to the Nth Melbourne midfield with his attack on the ball and also his opponents. Â
He has a strong ability to find the ball inside the contest, if he’s not evading congestion to break away from the contest he is distributing at a high rate to a team mate in a better position. Wardlaw has an outstanding ability to place enormous pressure on his opponents and executes tackles at an elite level. Â
The short term fantasy prospects appear to be solid, he should see multiple opportunities at AFL level in 2023. His fantasy scoring output should be decent with any type of midfield role which is his preferred position.

His long term prospects are likely to be quite good as he adapts to the physical nature of playing at AFL level. His scoring output should be strong through the midfield.
Season long fantasy: Wardlaw is a consideration at Round 1 as long as he completes a full uninterrupted pre-season, he was restricted in 2022 with hamstring issues.Â
Single season draft leagues: He’s likely a late round option in single season draft leagues. Â
DFS: He is an option early especially if there is the prospect of solid minutes in a midfield role.Â
