Fantasy Impact: Lewis Hayes will add quality depth as a key defender at Essendon.
He reads the play extremely well and can often find the right spots to intercept mark, his height allows him to be competitive in marking contests.
The short term fantasy prospects could be moderate to decent, he has the ability to slot into an Essendon team looking develop youth. His fantasy scoring rate should be decent if given an opportunity as an intercept defender early.

His long term prospects could vary, an intercept defender type role would certainly provide a platform for a solid scoring output but he is also likely to develop as a key defender matching up on strong opponents which would restrict his scores..
Season long fantasy: Hayes is an option if given an opportunity in 2023, clarity on his exact role would be required prior to committing.
Single season draft leagues: He’s likely a pass in single season draft leagues.
DFS: He will be a consideration as an intercept defender only especially at a low entry level salary.
