Cowan is an athletic defender that can break through opposition lines.

Carlton Head of List Management Nick Austin provided a brief update after Cowan was selected.

“He’s got leadership credentials and he plays football the right way.”

“He’s got an attacking mindset and hates to lose, plus he’s really reliable with ball in hand coming out of the back half.” Austin said.

Cowan also averaged 22.3 disposals, 3.5 marks and 4.3 tackles from 4 games in the 2022 U18 National Championships.

Fantasy Impact: Lachlan Cowan will add quality depth to the Carlton defence.

He can put speed on the ball with his pace, he reads the play well in order to open up play or intercept mark.

The short term fantasy prospects could be quite good, if he can develop well over pre-season and be provided with an opportunity he should produce decent fantasy numbers.

His long term prospects could also be good, a half-back role would likely provide a strong fantasy scoring rate.

Season long fantasy: Cowan is an option when he makes his debut, keep a close watch on his pre-season development for any early season debut potential. He should be able to exceed his salary expectation comfortably.

Single season draft leagues: He’s likely a late round speculative option in single season draft leagues.

DFS: He’ll certainly be a consideration in a half-back role especially at a low entry level salary.
