Binns is an athletic outside midfielder with excellent vision.

Carlton Head of List Management Nick Austin provided a brief update after Binns was selected.

“We really want to improve our running capacity as a group.”

“To add three guys (Blake Acres, Oliver Hollands & Jaxon Binns) that can cover the ground and play different roles in and around the square, we’re really comfortable with the mix.” Austin said.

Binns also averaged 25.8 disposals, 6.0 marks and 1.8 tackles from 4 games in the 2022 U18 National Championships.

Fantasy Impact: Jaxon Binns will add quality depth to the Carlton midfield.

His sharp game awareness allows him to hit targets with ease, he has very good speed.

The short term fantasy prospects could be decent, a strong initial pre-season should provide a platform for opportunities in 2023. Expect a solid scoring output through an outside midfield role.

His long term prospects could also be decent, he’ll likely settle into a wing role which should provide a strong fantasy scoring output.

Season long fantasy: Binns is an option when he makes his AFL debut, however it would be wise to check on his potential to play consecutive games early. He should exceed his salary expectation comfortably.

Single season draft leagues: He’s likely a late round speculative option in single season draft leagues.

DFS: He’ll be a consideration especially at a low entry level salary through a midfield role.
