Davies is an agile key defender that is strong in marking contests. Â
Fremantle Head of Player Personnel David Walls provided a brief update after Davies was selected.
“We’re really happy to get Hugh Davies in, he’s a key back who we think is going to develop really well under Alex (Pearce) and Brennan Cox.”
“We’re rapt to get him in.” Austin said.

Fantasy Impact: Hugh Davies will add quality depth to the Fremantle defence. Â
He reads the play well and is quite strong in marking contests. He is also calm in pressure situations providing stability to the defensive group.Â
The short term fantasy prospects could be moderate, Fremantle already have quality depth in defence. He is not without a chance of playing in 2023 but it could be a year of development.

His long term prospects could also be moderate, if he develops into a key defender to play on opposition key forwards his scoring output could be inconsistent and low at times.Â
Season long fantasy: Davies is an option only if player availability at his salary range is thin, however his scoring rate and ability to hold a spot for an initial sustained period is likely to be questionable.Â
Single season draft leagues: He’s a pass in single season draft leagues.
DFS: He’ll be a consideration only at a low entry level salary. Â
