Tanner Bruhn
Bruhn moved to Geelong in the off-season for new opportunities which includes an inside midfield role. He has been training as a midfielder over pre-season at his new club and for the first pre-season match against an opponent his usage at centre bounces was strong.Â
With the retirement of Joel Selwood there is a decent opportunity available for a player or a group of players to absorb his role. At the age of 20 Bruhn is ready to move into an inside midfield role after a decent apprenticeship from his time at the Giants.Â
The role is becoming clear but there is no guarantee Chris Scott won’t move the magnets.
Sam Docherty
Docherty will provide flexibility to the Carlton team again this season through the midfield and defence. The injury for Walsh in the midfield and Williams across half-back provides uncertainty for Docherty in role but either is fine from a fantasy scoring point of view.
He can provide stability and structure in defence while also commanding the ball to keep the scores ticking over. He can also provide an extra senior body at stoppages which will also provide decent fantasy scoring opportunities.Â
Expect a strong scoring rate for Docherty this season.Â

Angus Brayshaw
Brayshaw has the flexibility to play in different roles through an inside midfield role, out on a wing or across half-back. After being used as an inside mid late last season that was likely to be his starting position early this year but with Christian Salem currently sidelined Brayshaw has already been switched to half-back.
Any type of switch to a wing role throughout the season may deliver inconsistent scores but with Ed Langdon and Lachie Hunter currently locked into those roles only an injury will force a switch there for Brayshaw.Â
Senior coach Simon Goodwin will rely on the flexibility of Brayshaw again.Â
Errol Gulden
Gulden could see a spike in centre bounce usage this season as part of his development. He did see a sprinkling of usage last season and has the game to impact at stoppages. Gulden did see strong usage at centre bounces in the first practice match against Brisbane and had a positive impact.
Sydney do have decent depth to cover his half-forward role which allows Gulden to be pushed more into the midfield this season. His scoring rate as a midfielder will likely be solid.
Keep a watch on his role again this week.Â
Nsiah Wanganeen-Milera
Wanganeen-Milera was shifted to defence early in the pre-season which has provided a decent development opportunity. He was excellent in his first AFL season on a wing for the Saints but a new senior coach has instigated a move in role. Adding a defensive game for Wanganeen-Milera will provide flexibility in the future for the Saints but for this season may deliver inconsistent scores.Â
Unlikely to be an option. Â
