Tom Hawkins was named by Geelong senior coach Chris Scott after a strong finish to his pre-season following off-season toe/foot surgery.
Will Ashcroft was named for his AFL debut after a strong pre-season. Ashcroft is the current Rising Star favourite.
Steven May (calf) and Jack Viney (knee) are crucial omissions for Melbourne.
Tristan Xerri has been named as solo ruck for Nth Melbourne with Todd Goldstein missing selection. Will Phillips also misses selection.

Matt Flynn has been listed as the No.1 ruck this week for the Giants.
Max Michalanney will make his AFL debut in defence for Adelaide.
Peter Wright has been sidelined with a shoulder injury. Andrew Phillips is named for the Bombers to provide height in the forward line along with Sam Draper.
Tom Campbell wasn’t named for the game against Fremantle with the Saints lacking height in the forward line.
