Five Players is a weekly article to help you make informed decisions for season long AFL Fantasy.

Touk Miller
Miller has been solid to start the season scoring 100pts or more in 4 of 5 games, he has scored 120pts or more in just the 1 game. He has received some attention from opposition teams this season but the scores do remain healthy. The centre bounce usage will continue to be high throughout the season. If Gold Coast are to turn around their poor start to the season you would think Miller would be one of the main contributors which would likely see a strong scoring output. If the Suns start to fall out of finals contention then later in the season more teams may be willing to pay less attention to Miller which could also result in multiple high-ceiling games.Â
Sharp investment.Â
Zak Butters
A shoulder concern restricted Butters late in the pre-season which seemed to impact the start of his 2023 campaign. With a drop in salary many have him on the radar for a discounted trade target. Butters hasn’t completed a full AFL season over his career with his combative game style which is a concern, he also hasn’t really been an accumulating type player. The game style currently at Port Adelaide isn’t one that will provide consistent fantasy scoring opportunities.Â
There are likely better options with less risk.Â

Angus Brayshaw
The scoring for Brayshaw has negatively regressed each week to start the season which has resulted in a significant salary adjustment. He is likely to regress further over the upcoming period which could be a noteworthy discounted option. The scores haven’t been strong to start the season and with the possibility of targeting him at a cheaper salary there is more time to assess.Â
Wait for now.
Jason Johannisen
A role change for Johannisen has put him back on the fantasy radar for many. After spending most of his recent career as a pressure forward Luke Beveridge has made the move early in the season. The scoring output for Johannisen has been strong over the last couple of weeks in defence which has certainly been noteworthy. The defence at the Bulldogs has been a little unsettled to start the season which opened up the possibility for Johannisen to move back which does present some risk when player availability is strong. Injuries to pressure forwards could also result in another switch at any stage or within a game. Based on his current situation it may be too difficult to ignore.Â
If the role continues this is a strong value consideration.Â
Callum WilkieÂ
The change in structure at St Kilda under Ross Lyon has been a positive for many players including defenders. The Saints are a heavy switch team across D50 along with a disposal heavy game style. Wilkie is one player to benefit quite nicely and his current fantasy scoring output is strong. It is unlikely Ross Lyon will change something that is working quite well which provides an opportunity for many to target Wilkie. Most won’t have the trust based on previous scoring history but there has been a significant change which has to be acknowledged. The risk will be opposition teams now adjusting to what they see at the Saints and trying to eliminate a strong threat to their own forward scoring opportunities. Â
A consideration.Â
