Tom Stewart update

Five Players is a weekly article to help you make informed decisions for season long AFL Fantasy.

Harry Himmelberg

Himmelberg moved to defence in Round 10 but unfortunately was concussed, he returned in Round 12 playing in a defensive role. Last week Himmelberg again played in defence with Aaron Cadman missing from the team which included a week of positive comments from the senior coach and GM of footy about his role in defence but a reminder the Giants are also looking to sign him to a long-term contract. Isaac Cumming and Sam Taylor are on the radar to return which could provide further clarity on his role. Himmelberg provides flexibility with his ability to play at both ends of the ground.

Not a guarantee at this stage to remain in defence.

Brad Crouch

Crouch has been excellent in his last couple of games averaging 118.5pts, he has scored 100pts or more in 50.0% of games and 120pts or more in 25.0% of games. St Kilda have been a heavy disposal team for most of the year under new senior coach Ross Lyon with midfield numbers fluctuating at times. With Jack Steele currently battling through knee soreness it may be an opportunity for Crouch to become a leading midfielder for a period of time.

One to consider.

AFLRATINGS PLAYER NEWS

Nic Martin

Martin has been excellent averaging 113.3pts from his last 4 games, with Will Setterfield and Darcy Parish missing from the Bombers midfield Martin has been able to find plenty of ball. The concern will be his output when Essendon have full availability through the middle of the ground. Martin averaged 74.4pts between Rounds 1-8 with both Parish and Setterfield in the team.

Possible drop in output when Parish and Setterfield return.

Tom Mitchell

Tom Mitchell has been outstanding in recent weeks averaging 112.6pts from his last 5 games, he has scored 100pts or more in 53.8% of games and 120pts or more in 23.1% of games this season. He has been used at 61.0% of team centre bounces this season which spiked to 71.4% last week with no Jordan DeGoey. Mitchell certainly knows how to find the ball and now seems to have settled into a new game style in his first year at Collingwood.

One to consider.

Tom Stewart

Geelong have a stacked home schedule to finish the 2023 H&A season at GMHBA Stadium, the narrow ground allows Tom Stewart to impact at a very high level inside D50. If opponents are not locked into shutting down Stewart his scoring output could be quite decent to finish the season. He is even more damaging from a fantasy perspective late in games where a result is known with the Cats opting to play tempo footy across half-back.

One to consider.
