2023 AFL Fantasy: Five Players (Round 15)

Five Players is a weekly article to help you make informed decisions for season long AFL Fantasy.

Jack Steele

Several scores recently for Steele are a concern, having dealt with shoulder and knee injuries already this season he recently underwent an assessment which likely included his recent Achilles issue. He is averaging 93.3pts this season from 10 games, he has scored 100pts or more in 40.0% of games and 120pts or more in 20.0% of games. The Saints are under a new senior coach in Ross Lyon this season where a change in game style was implemented which clearly isn’t about individual performances and is more group focused. Lyon has also used Steele in negating roles throughout the season which has limited his fantasy scoring output.

Likely too many injuries and role adjustments that limit scores.

Darcy Cameron

Cameron has returned from injury and currently has a strong workload through the ruck position at Collingwood. He has averaged 102.5pts from his last two games which has provided a level of optimism that he can sustain a solid average to finish the H&A season. Cameron will provide flexibility with the ability to roster forward which will likely come with a decent level of ownership this week covering for Tim English.

One to consider.

AFLRATINGS PLAYER NEWS

Noah Anderson

Anderson has been reasonably solid this season averaging 102.4pts, he has scored 100pts or more in 53.8% of games and 120pts or more in 23.1% of games. His usage as an inside mid has been strong for the season but he was moved on the outside last week providing opportunities for others to develop through the midfield in a game where the result was known at half time. Touk Miller is on the radar to return in a few weeks which will assist the midfield core group but expect Anderson to continue his solid scoring output for the remainder of the season.

One to consider.

Harry Sheezel

After averaging 113.8pts from his opening 5 games this season Sheezel has slowed down a touch averaging 88.9pts from his last 9 games. A change in senior coach for a period of time and a couple of role adjustments have delivered inconsistent scores recently. Sheezel recently said he was likely to remain in defence for now after several discussions with coaches about his role. Expect a solid scoring output to finish the season if he remains across half-back.

One to consider.

Trent Cotchin

Cotchin has had a mini resurgence late in his career with an increase in midfield usage. Interim senior coach Andrew McQualter moved Cotchin back into the midfield but Jacob Hopper is on the radar to return post-bye. There is no guarantee Cotchin will remain in the midfield at his current usage, his scoring output is unlikely to be strong enough for a sustained period of time to finish the season.

The salary range is appealing but the are better options available.
