2023 AFL Fantasy: Five Players (Round 17)

Five Players is a weekly article to help you make informed decisions for season long AFL Fantasy.

Harry Himmelberg

This could be the week where a clear role for Himmelberg is established under senior coach Adam Kingsley. With several defenders now back in the team Kingsley has a definite decision to make on roles for quite a few players including Himmelberg. It is really a difficult selection to make in fantasy with so many factors involved all of which need to be right so he remains in defence for the remainder of the season. The scoring output from last season is not the same with a different and more efficient ball movement style under Kingsley.

Risk.

Darcy Cameron

Cameron has been solid in his return from a knee injury for Collingwood. His fantasy scores have fluctuated with several adjustments over the last couple of weeks. The fantasy scoring output is likely limited somewhat for Cameron in a shared ruck role which isn’t likely to change anytime soon. The scores are likely to fluctuate weekly.

Better and more consistent options are available.

AFLRATINGS PLAYER NEWS

Darcy Parish

Parish has returned to the midfield for Essendon and has very limited ownership in fantasy. The Bombers are happy to hold on to the ball under new senior coach Brad Scott which should provide optimal fantasy scoring opportunities for Parish if left unattended by opposition teams.

One to consider with a high-ceiling.

Liam Henry

Henry has taken advantage of a sweeper type role across wing/half-back in recent weeks for Fremantle. If he can remain in that role his fantasy scoring output should be quite healthy. There is always the consideration of a role change returning to a small-forward position but he has been quite good putting speed on the ball for the Dockers.

Strong value if the role remains.

Hugh McCluggage

With Josh Dunkley now sidelined it is likely Hugh McCluggage will get a decent look as an inside mid which may include strong centre bounce usage. So far McCluggage has been limited in his fantasy output this season with the arrival of Dunkley and Will Ashcroft. The opportunity through the midfield should provide a strong scoring output for McCluggage until Dunkley returns.

One to consider.
