“Matt has spent eight seasons in the AFL system and is physically mature so we expect he can come in and make an impact.” O’Brien said.

Flynn averaged 11.8 disposals, 1.7 marks, 3.3 tackles and 28.3 hit outs from 9 games at the Giants in 2023.

GWS will receive an end of Round 2 compensation (currently pick 40).

Fantasy Impact

Matt Flynn averaged 73.8pts from 9 games at the Giants in 2023, he scored a season-high 110pts in Round 2 against West Coast.

Flynn averaged 68.1pts from 12 games in 2022.

West Coast has identified Flynn as their starting No.1 ruck but he could be in a split situation with Bailey Williams as he moves to a forward/ruck role. Harry Barnett could also put pressure on Flynn if he rapidly develops.

Flynn is an option at this stage in season-long classic fantasy but with an awareness that much still has to play out in his favour which includes sharing ruck duties which would limit his scoring output.
