Matt Rowell Role

AFLRATINGS NEWS: Gold Coast midfielder Matt Rowell could be set for a role adjustment next season. 

Senior coach Damien Hardwick concerned about the impact on Rowell only playing inside midfield for an entire season recently referenced an adjustment to his role for the 2025 season. 

Hardwick added that Rowell would refine his role which included opportunities forward during pre-season training this summer.

Rowell will still play an inside midfield role next season but to reduce his workload in that role and maintain his strong impact a secondary role or adjustment is set to be introduced.

Rowell has been used at 76.1% of team centre bounces so far this season.
