AFL Grand Final Team Changes

SYDNEY

Late Changes: –

Sub:
(Sub last game: Robbie Fox)

Key players missing: Callum Mills, Taylor Adams, Caiden Cleary, Aaron Francis, Peter Ladhams.

Injury List: Sydney

AFLRATINGS Fantasy Notes: Callum Mills will not return to the team this week after injuring his hamstring nearly 3 weeks ago, Robbie Fox was the starting sub for the Swans last week.

James Jordon is likely to get the matchup on Dayne Zorko, James Rowbottom is likely to target Lachie Neale through the midfield.

This should be a favourable matchup for Brodie Grundy at the ruck position against Darcy Fort, expect Hayden McLean to provide ruck support for the Swans.

Luke Parker or even Will Hayward may play a role wide in the forward line to make sure Harris Andrews is accountable for a target and remove him from intercept positions.

Expect Isaac Heeney to push forward at times when he has a favourable matchup, the Swans will likely target Charlie Cameron for a heavy lockdown role.

Isaac Heeney has been used at 77.8% of team centre bounces from 2 finals, James Rowbottom has been used at 77.8%, Chad Warner 74.1% and Errol Gulden 42.6% over the same period.

The Swans are averaging 87.9 uncontested marks this season, they are averaging 97.0pts per game over the same period (Rank 1).

Logan McDonald injured his ankle last week and has been managed at training this week, senior coach John Longmire said earlier this week he expects McDonald to play.

BRISBANE

Late Changes: –

Sub:
(Sub last game: Conor McKenna)

Key players missing: Oscar McInerney, Darragh Joyce, Bruce Reville, Darcy Gardiner, Lincoln McCarthy, Tom Doedee, Keidean Coleman.

Injury List: Brisbane

AFLRATINGS Fantasy Notes: Oscar McInerney will miss the 2024 AFL Grand Final due to a dislocated shoulder, Darcy Fort will replace McInerney at the ruck position with support from Joe Daniher.

Fort recorded 11 disposals, 3 marks, 6 tackles and 27 hit outs in his only game as solo ruck this season (AF: 92pts), his opponent for that Round 7 game at Manuka Oval was Kieren Briggs who recorded 16 disposals, 2 marks, 3 tackles and 34 hit outs (AF: 86pts).

Josh Dunkley is likely to play a negating role against Isaac Heeney or Chad Warner at stoppages throughout the game, Jarrod Berry may be used in role targeting Errol Gulden through the midfield. Berry has the flexibility to be used at centre bounces if Gulden moves into an inside mid role.

Expect Brandon Starcevich and Ryan Lester to be used in lockdown defensive roles against Sydney small forwards, the Lions will try to interrupt any attention given to Harris Andrews that will benefit his intercept marking game.

Lachie Neale has been used at 90.1% of team centre bounces from 3 finals, Josh Dunkley has been used at 80.2%, Hugh McCluggage 64.8% and Will Ashcroft 44.0% over the same period.

The Lions are averaging 97.9 uncontested marks per game this season (Rank 1), they are averaging 93.4pts per game over the same period (Rank 2).

Lachie Neale has played with calf/heel soreness in recent weeks, Eric Hipwood has been managing groin soreness while Jack Payne has also been managing knee soreness.

This article will be updated until the start of each game.
