Fantasy Impact
Josh Battle will provide immediate assistance to the Hawthorn defence in 2025.
He averaged 17.8 disposals, 7.6 marks and 1.3 tackles from 23 games for the Saints in 2024.
Battle recorded 7 marks or more in 14 of 23 games last season and scored 100pts or more in 21.1% of games.
Battle’s fantasy scoring output next season could be based on how the Hawks do set their defensive structure for 2025, a move out of defence for James Sicily could open up the possibility for Battle as the main intercept defender.
Hawthorn now have depth at the key defensive position with the addition of Tom Barrass and other options, Battle doesn’t necessarily need to play a key defensive role but has the versatility if required to matchup on key forwards.
Pre-season will be an interesting watch for Hawthorn players including the exact roles for Josh Battle and James Sicily.
