He fractured his larynx following contact to his throat at training (via Melbourne).

Gawn is expected to be placed on non-contact training until the end of January, there is also a period he’ll be unable to exercise for the next two weeks.
“As part of his recovery, Max won’t be able to exercise for the next two weeks, followed by a period of non-contact training for an additional four weeks.
“Despite the setback, Max is recovering well and remains in good spirits.” Melbourne AFL High Performance Manager Selwyn Griffith.
Melbourne will likely provide updates during his recovery period.
