AFLRATINGS NEWS: The 2024 AFL season provided quite a few healthy returns for punters, however from the pain of a near certainty being eliminated from the Rising Star market to a premiership team that at more than one point in the season appeared destined to fall short all made for a wild punting season.
2024 AFL Premiership Market
After narrowly missing out on a premiership in 2023 Brisbane started second favourite at $6.00 prior to the opening round of the H&A season, the Lions started their campaign 0-3 and sat 14th on the AFL ladder drifting out to $12.00.
Prior to Round 13 Brisbane were 4-1-6 and sat 2.5 games outside the top 8, they were almost friendless in the market drifting out to a season-high $34.00.
A strong finish to their H&A season put the Lions back in top 4 contention shortening to $3.50 premiership favouritism prior to Round 22, however consecutive losses to GWS and Collingwood ended their top 4 chances.
Prior to the finals series Brisbane were $8.50, a comfortable elimination final win over Carlton had the Lions at $8.00 as they entered a semi final against the Giants.
Brisbane’s 2024 campaign appeared to be over after trailing by 44 points early in the third quarter against GWS, a stunning comeback win kept their premiership chances alive.
The Lions were $4.25 entering a preliminary final against Geelong, again they overcame a deficit to narrowly advance to the 2024 Grand Final.
Brisbane were $2.08 prior to the first bounce on Grand Final day, the Lions completed an amazing season winning by 60pts.
