AFLRATINGS NEWS: Marcus Bontempelli is edging closer to a contract extension at the Bulldogs.

He is currently uncontracted beyond 2025 and is currently an unrestricted free agent.

Senior coach Luke Beveridge stated last week that he was “not concerned” on Bontempelli’s upcoming contract negotiations but also admitted it was time to get things moving on a new contract.

Beveridge added that he was hopeful a contract extension would be finalised quickly.

Bontempelli last signed a four-year contract extension with the Bulldogs in May, 2021.

At the time Bontempelli stated “I always wanted to stay a Bulldog”.

He said recently that contract talks would be held this week which should go smoothly.

Matt Rowell has signed a new two-year contract extension according to The Age’s Michael Gleeson on Sunday, Rowell was a trade target for multiple Victorian clubs. Rowell is now contracted until the end of 2027.

Massimo D’Ambrosio has inked a new three-year deal at Hawthorn afl.com.au’s Cal Twomey reported on Monday, D’Ambrosio has become a critical outside player for the Hawks since being traded by the Bombers in 2023. 

Brisbane’s interest in Oscar Allen has not altered following recent knee surgery that ended his season according to 9 News Melbourne’s Tom Morris, the Lions are currently favoured to sign Allen as a restricted free agent in October.
