The Crows were heavily reliant on Dawson playing through the midfield in 2025 which included a healthy usage of centre bounces.Â
Nicks was positive following the semi final loss to Hawthorn in September saying the team will grow from the experience despite the disappointment.Â
One area he conceded may adjust next season is the midfield rotation and Dawson’s heavy workload throughout the H&A season.

Nicks was open and honest shortly after the game looking ahead to the 2026 season with the possibility that Dawson won’t necessarily be needed every week in the midfield if the team could reach a certain level of output.
He added that Dawson was moved forward of the ball and also behind the ball at times in 2025.
Dawson averaged 108.9pts (AF) from 25 games in 2025, he scored 100pts or more in 64.0% of games and 120pts or more in 36.0% of games.Â
