AFLRATINGS NEWS: Zac Bailey is one of the bigger names currently unsigned at the end of 2026.

He is a restricted free agent that will command plenty of attention from opposition clubs but is absolutely a priority for the Lions.

Brisbane List Manager Dom Ambrogio said recently (via Trade Radio) the club will do “everything they can” to get Bailey’s signature.

Ambrogio also stated that Brisbane are building a list that want to stay together which means players will need to take less money compared to offers from rival clubs.

Contract negotiations for Bailey are expected to be ongoing throughout the off-season.

Tom McConville (Mac’s Sports Promotions) said recently on Trade Radio that talks with Bailey will occur when he returns from his off-season holiday with a view to understand his thoughts on how to progress on a new contract.

McConville added that they’re “not set on any timelines” for a decision at the moment but understand Bailey needs to be well remunerated if he remains at the Lions with lifestyle and football playing a major role in a final decision.

Bailey was selected at pick 15 in the 2017 AFL Draft by Brisbane.

He has played 166 career games which includes consecutive premierships for the Lions in 2024/25.
