AFL Trade News: Sam Walsh

AFLRATINGS NEWS: Carlton midfielder Sam Walsh is one of the biggest free agent names of 2026.

He is a restricted free agent at the end of the 2026 season. 

Geelong has been linked to Walsh in recent months along with Hawthorn and St Kilda, other clubs are expected to have an interest.

As reported by afl.com.au’s Cal Twomey and Riley Beveridge in September Walsh is expected to take his time to make a decision on his playing future. 

Carlton’s National Recruiting Manager Mick Agresta said this week on Gettable that the club is ‘really comfortable’ when asked where contract talks are at with Walsh. 

Agresta added that Walsh couldn’t be ‘more invested’ at Carlton.

Walsh was selected at pick 1 in the 2018 AFL Draft by Carlton.

He has played 133 career games for the Blues.
