Dylan Shiel was traded to Essendon from GWS on the final day of the 2018 Trade Period, an exchange of high ends draft picks were also part of the deal.

Shiel has a career average 24.4 Disposals & 3.1 Marks from 135 games at the Giants, he averaged 25.9 Disposals & 2.9 Marks from 23 games in 2018. Shiel was pre-selected as a 17 year old by GWS in 2011, he made his debut in the Giants first game in the AFL in 2012.

“Dylan is a very hard runner that can win contested ball inside at stoppages but he will also cover the ground and help us link up both offensively and defensively” Essendon Coach John Worsfold.

AFL FANTASY TAKE: Shiel has been very consistent from a fantasy perspective in his last 5 years with a season average ranging between 89-98pts, unfortunately he has never been able to mix it with the elite fantasy players.

Unless we see a massive spike in pre-season numbers by Shiel he is likely a pass, there are too many quality midfield options ahead of him.
