Sydney key forward Lance Franklin has been ruled out for Round 7 with a hamstring injury, he was a late withdrawal in Round 6.

It is likely Issac Heeney could see extended minutes in the forward line as a result of the Franklin injury, Heeney recorded 16 Disposals, 5 Tackles & 1 Goal in Round 6.

Sydney forward Will Hayward could be available this week which could release Heeney into the midfield, Hayward needs medical clearance prior to being made available for selection.

2019 Late Changes: Round 6

GWS half-back/midfielder Lachie Whitfield is unlikely to play in Round 7, he sustained a leg cork early in the 2nd Qtr in Round 6.

“Whitfield is probably more unlikely than likely.. It’s still fairly sore today.. we’ve had 3 days (since Round 6) & he’s still in a fair bit of pain” Leon Cameron on Lachie Whitfield.

The prospects for Giants midfielder Stephen Coniglio appear to be far better than Whitfield this week, Leon Cameron insisted Coniglio needed to get through training this week to be considered after dislocating his finger in Round 6.

GWS defender Phil Davis also needs to get through training this week, he was a Round 6 Late Withdrawal due to an ankle injury sustained in Round 5.

AFL Fantasy Game Notes: Round 6

Brisbane could see a host of players return in Round 7, Harris Andrews (Hamstring), Zac Bailey (Hamstring) & Rhys Mathieson (Hamstring) may be available for selection which could hinder the job security for Noah Answerth in the short term.

Nth Melbourne midfielder Shaun Higgins is set to be available for Round 7, he was a Round 6 Late Withdrawal due to illness.

Hawthorn has accepted the 1 game suspension for midfielder James Cousins, he will not play in Round 7. Shaun Burgoyne is expected to be available for Round 7.

Round 7 Weather Forecast

Port Adelaide half-back Hamish Hartlett won’t be available in the short term due to complications from a hamstring graft to assist in ACL surgery last year, it is likely he won’t be available for the next 3-4 weeks which is positive news for Xavier Duursma & Power rookies.

Carlton half-back Kade Simpson will miss 3 weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury in Round 6, defender Nic Newman is also out for 3 weeks with a knee injury.

It is also likely Carlton Ruck Matthew Kreuzer will miss Round 7 with a hamstring cork.

Fremantle midfielder/half-back Connor Blakely could finally make his return in Round 7, he underwent hamstring surgery in the pre-season and returned in the WAFL last week.

“Connor returned really strongly, he got through the game without any issues at all & he put up some good numbers” Dockers High Performance Manager, Jason Weber.

West Coast midfielder Jack Redden is questionable for Round 7, he was not named due to achilles soreness last week.

“Jack pulled up towards the end of last week with a little bit of Achilles soreness.. he just needs to get through some training.. hopefully then he’ll be available to play” Senior Physiotherapist, Paul Tucker.
