“We’re really disappointed for Newy, especially after he worked so hard to get back from elbow surgery after Round 1,”

“His work rate and professionalism is second-to-none. While this is a significant injury, we have full confidence that Newy’s approach to his rehab will be first-class and we look forward to seeing him back to his best in 2021.” Carlton Head of Football Brad Lloyd.

Newman averaged 21.4 Disposals, 6.8 Marks & 3.3 Tackles from 20 games in 2019.

AFL FANTASY TAKE

The long term injury to Newman opens up a small defensive lock down spot for the Blues, look for Carlton Snr coach David Teague to mix-up the defensive rotation or even look outside the team that played in Round 2 to fill that spot.
