Fantasy: The role for Nat Fyfe in 2021

Nat Fyfe is set to increase his forward usage in 2021, Dockers senior coach Justin Longmuir stated the team needs to plan for the future with only Matt Taberner & Rory Lobb as genuine tall targets.

Fremantle traded key forward Jesse Hogan to the Giants in the recent trade period, Cam McCarthy was also delisted by the Dockers.

Fyfe spent time forward in 2020 out of necessity due to injury & to add flexibility for the Dockers, that allowed the young midfield group to develop further with Adam Cerra & Andrew Brayshaw increasing their midfield usage along with the introduction of Caleb Serong.

Nat Fyfe was used at 51.4% of total Fremantle centre bounces in 2020, he played 14 games averaging a team high 21.4 Disposals.

“We do need some contingency plans around our forward line and especially our tall forwards. We’ve probably only got two genuine tall forwards on our list in Matt Taberner and Rory Lobb.

AFL FANTASY TAKE

Nat Fyfe averaged 75.4pts from 14 games in 2020, he scored a season high 98pts against Brisbane in Round 2.

In games where Fyfe kicked 1 Goal or more in 2020 Fyfe averaged 83.8pts.

The move to increase the forward usage for Fyfe in 2021 seems logical with the key forwards that have departed the Dockers in Hogan & McCarthy, Fyfe will provide extra support as another key marking target.

A dual position possibility for Fyfe also has to be a realistic possibility at some stage in 2021, adding forward status will further add value in fantasy.

Fyfe will be a genuine consideration for AFL Fantasy classic if forward status is confirmed, moving him up your draft rank should be a priority in 10 team standard draft leagues.
