Will Day

Will Day is expected to continue his role across half-back in 2021, he made his debut last season after being selected at pick 13 in the 2019 AFL Draft.

Day played 11 games in his first year, he averaged 15.6 Disposals, 4.4 Marks & 1.4 Tackles.

Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson allowed Day to settle into a half-back role in 2020, with still a slight build Day is expecting to remain in that role in 2021.

“Last year I showed myself that I was comfortable at the level, this year I’m going to try & take that next step.”

“I think at the moment I’m probably most comfortable in the backline, but as my body starts to mature a bit more I’d probably like to see myself get up into the midfield” Will Day on Monday.

AFL FANTASY TAKE

Day averaged 59.6pts from 11 games in 2020, he scored a season high 77pts against St Kilda in Round 16.

There is further fantasy upside available for Day next season, he’ll likely be used at a high rate in his role across half-back using his elite kicking skills.

Day should be well & truly on your fantasy watch list again this pre-season, he could make a push towards a Top 10 rank as a defender in fantasy in just his second season at AFL level.

In AFL Fantasy classic Day is a genuine option to start at Round 1 but he will come with an increase in salary, he’s a must track during the pre-season for usage in his half-back role.

Day is likely to be a mid-late round sleeper in 10 team standard draft leagues, it’s worth moving him up on your draft rank to claim him ahead of others.
