Seb Ross has provided clarity on his role for 2021, he is the latest St Kilda midfielder stating the need for a secondary role this season.

“Most of the guys are learning a secondary role, because we can’t all fit into the slots into the ruck-rover & rover & all that.” Seb Ross via 7 Melbourne.

The Saints recruited midfielder Brad Crouch in the off-season, a squeeze for spots at centre bounces will be on this season.

Ross indicated he will likely spend more time on the outside in 2021, he was used at 53.7% of team centre bounces last season.

“It will be primarily midfield I think, but probably a little bit more out on a wing & may be a little bit of half-back.” Ross added.

Ross wasn’t preferred in at centre bounces in the second half of the semi-final loss to Richmond in 2020.

AFL FANTASY TAKE

Ross averaged 59.8pts in 2020, he scored a season high 107pts against the Bulldogs in Round 2.

With the addition of Brad Crouch in the off-season Ross will likely see a reduction in centre bounce usage compared to last season, his scoring in 2021 may fluctuate as a result.

Jack Steele & Brad Crouch will likely be used the highest at centre bounces this season, tracking the only pre-season game will be critical to evaluate further.

Ross is a pass in AFL Fantasy classic, he likely slides quite a few rounds & wouldn’t surprise if he went undrafted in 10 team standard draft leagues.
